New display products are introduced in the market so fast. Tablet PC, smart phone, LED TV and 3D TV were introduced in the market just three years ago, but the sale of such items has been skyrocketing every year. One of the key interests of these products is whether or not they will use Amoled in the future. Unlike the LCD which uses backlight, AMOled is thinner and its color reproduction is higher than LCD so that it is used for small high-specification products. Considering that LCD has low light transmission and it is not flexible material as it uses backlight, Amoled is the right product for the transparent display and flexible display.
Interest in and demand for next-generation display induced investment in AMOled several years ago, but makers could not achieve successful results as they faced with technological limit. However, the atmosphere is different from then. Panel makers have accumulated know-how from the LCD industry, and they either secured mass production technologies or they are already under production. In particular, panel makers are recently cooperating with equipment and material suppliers from the R&D stage, reducing problems and failures but increasing success rate. Reviewing the products recently exhibited at the shows and the academic theses, we can understand that significant progresses are made in more various technologies.
